Calzedonia Group takes Mexico
Travel with us to Mexico City

Last March, we headed into Mexico, opening the Group’s first two stores there, Calzedonia and Intimissimi, in the Paseo Interlomas shopping centre of Mexico City. 

The opening in the Mexican market is a key moment in the Group’s international growth, taking us to now operate in 56 different countries.

Today, the Mexican team responsible for the Group’s start-up in the country numbers 22 people.

Can you tell us about this first year?

The new Mexican company was created in September 2022. Since then, we opened Intimissimi and Calzedonia in Mexico City on 29 March. Early September, another Intimissimi store is scheduled to open in Mexico City and by the end of the year, we expect to end up with a total of 10 stores of these two brands. 


What does the future hold for growth in the country? 

Mexico is a huge country with a strong economy and major opportunities for retail. We are firmly convinced that in the future, there will be room for some of our other brands too. Today, it is difficult for us to forecast the stores we will be opening in the long-term, but without doubt, we aim to expand. 


What is your favourite memory linked to the start-up?

My favourite memory was when, together with two District Manager colleagues of mine, we pressed the button to raise the grates on the day of the official opening. We didn't know what to expect.

Thanks to HQ's support and the help of all the local team, in just six months from when the company was created, we now have two stores perfectly up-and-running and that continue to grow, month after month.
